MIL-C-26482 Electrical Parameters and Environmental Performance

In military, aerospace and high-end industrial sectors, the reliability of electrical connections is critical to equipment performance.

Originally designated MIL-C-26482 and now updated to MIL-DTL-26482, this classic high-density circular connector per US military standards features bayonet quick-lock, full sealing, superior vibration resistance and excellent electrical properties.

It serves as a mainstream connection solution for airborne, vehicle-mounted, shipboard and harsh field environments, standing as a benchmark for high-reliability connectivity.

MIL-C-26482: Definition & Core Positioning

MIL-C-26482 is a military standard for high-density circular electrical connectors issued by the U.S. Department of Defense. It consists of Series I (solder type) and Series II (crimp type), with GJB598 as the equivalent domestic standard. Featuring compact size, high density, quick connection and full protection, it delivers highly reliable signal and power connections in harsh environments. Widely used to replace traditional low-density circular connectors, it meets the miniaturization and integration requirements of military equipment.

Core Electrical Parameters: Military Stability, Precise Control

Electrical performance is the core of connectors. MIL-C-26482 complies with top military standards, supporting both signal transmission and power load. Key parameters are as follows:

1.Rated Current (by contact size)

• 20# (Φ1.0mm): 7.5A (Standard) / 5A (Hermetic)

• 16# (Φ1.6mm): 13A (Standard) / 10A (Hermetic)

• 12# (Φ2.4mm): 23A (Standard) / 17A (Hermetic)

2.Rated Voltage & Withstand Voltage

• Rated operating voltage at sea level: 600V AC (Standard) / 1000V AC (Series Ⅰ)

• Withstand voltage (sea level, no breakdown within 1 minute): 2000V AC (Class Ⅰ) / 2800V AC (Class Ⅱ)

3.Contact Resistance (Gold-plated contacts, 25℃)

• 20#: ≤5mΩ; 16#: ≤2.5mΩ; 12#: ≤1.5mΩ

• Ultra-low resistance design ensures lossless signal transmission and eliminates risks of poor contact and overheating.

4.Insulation Resistance

• Normal condition (25℃): ≥5000MΩ; After high temperature & humidity exposure: ≥1000MΩ

• Made of premium thermoset plastic insulator with superior insulation performance, effectively preventing leakage current and short circuits.

5.EMI Shielding Performance

• Metal housing with RFI shielding structure, shielding effectiveness ≥60dB (10MHz~1GHz).

• It effectively resists external electromagnetic interference and prevents signal distortion, ideal for complex electromagnetic environments such as airborne radar and communication equipment.

Environmental Resistance: Stable in extreme environments

MIL-C-26482 features excellent all-weather environmental resistance. It operates stably under extreme cold, high heat, salt spray, vibration and shock. Key environmental parameters are as follows:

1. Wide Operating Temperature Range

• Standard (Type W/H): -55℃ ~ +175℃
• High-temperature (Type L): -55℃ ~ +200℃ (for engine bays and high-temperature electrical control boxes)
• Materials resist softening and cracking; electrical parameters remain stable with no deviation under extreme temperature differences.

2. Sealing Rating

• Mated state: IP67 (Dust-tight and temporary water immersion resistant)
• Dual protection of interface seal and rear cable grommet. Aging and temperature resistant silicone rubber gaskets block ingress of moisture, rain and dust.

3. Salt Spray Resistance

• Type W (Cadmium plated): No red rust after 500 hours (coastal & shipboard use)
• Type L (Electroless nickel plated): No corrosion after 48 hours (industrial & inland field use)
• Housings are made of aluminum alloy/stainless steel with anti-corrosion coatings, and contacts are gold-plated for long-term resistance against salt spray, mold and atmospheric corrosion.

4. Vibration & Shock Resistance

• Random vibration: 10~2000Hz, 1.0g²/Hz. No loosening during continuous triaxial vibration.
• Shock: 300g, 3ms half-sine wave. No disconnection or contact damage under triaxial impact.
• Bayonet locking and anti-loose structure prevent poor contact in high-vibration military vehicle and airborne scenarios.
